I searched through the Earth for something that could satisfy

A peace for the hurt I had buried deep inside

Knees on the floor, I finally found everything I needed

You lifted my soul and opened up my eyes

[Pre-Chorus]

I never knew anything lasts forever

Till I found You, till I found You

I never dreamed anything could be better

Till I found You, till I found You

[Chorus]

You're rewriting my story

And I'm brand new like a morning

Oh, I never knew anything lasts forever

Till I found You

Till I, till I found You

[Post-Chorus]

Till I, till I found You

Till I, till I found You

Till I, till I found You

[Verse 2]

Gone are the days I'm chasing after what won't last

I'm done with building these castles that crumble like sand

Oh, knees on the floor

I finally found that everything I needed was always right in front of me

You gave me a name

You changed everything, yeah yeah

Lyrics:

She lifts her skirt up to her knees
Walks through the garden rows with her bare feet, laughing
And I never learned to count my blessings
I choose instead to dwell in my disasters

Walk on down the hill
Through grass grown tall and brown
And still it’s hard somehow to let go of my pain
On past the busted back
of that old and rusted Cadillac
That sinks into this field collecting rain

Will I always feel this way ‒
So empty, so estranged?

And of these cut-throat busted sunsets,
these cold and damp white mornings
I have grown weary
If through my cracked and dusted dime-store lips
I spoke these words out loud would no one hear me?
Lay your blouse across the chair,
Let fall the flowers from your hair
And kiss me with that country mouth so plain.
Outside the rain is tapping on the leaves
To me it sounds like they’re applauding us,
The quiet love we’ve made.

Will I always feel this way
So empty, so estranged?

Well, I looked my demons in the eyes
laid bare my chest, said “Do your best, destroy me.
You see, I’ve been to hell and back so many times,
I must admit you kind of bore me.”
There’s a lot of things that can kill a man
There’s a lot of ways to die
Yes, and some already dead that walk beside me
There’s a lot of things I don’t understand
Why so many people lie
Well, it’s the hurt I hide that fuels the fires inside me

Will I always feel this way
So empty, so estranged?

Original text of Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher"

During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens, I had been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly dreary tract of country; and at length found myself, as the shades of the evening drew on, within view of the melancholy House of Usher. I know not how it was--but, with the first glimpse of the building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit. I say insufferable; for the feeling was unrelieved by any of that half-pleasurable, because poetic, sentiment, with which the mind usually receives even the sternest natural images of the desolate or terrible. I looked upon the scene before me--upon the mere house, and the simple landscape features of the domain--upon the bleak walls--upon the vacant eye-like windows--upon a few rank sedges--and upon a few white trunks of decayed trees--with an utter depression of soul which I can compare to no earthly sensation more properly than to the after-dream of the reveller upon opium--the bitter lapse into everyday life-the hideous dropping off of the reveller upon opium--the bitter lapse into everyday life--the hideous dropping off of the veil. There was an iciness, a sinking, a sickening of the heart--an unredeemed dreariness of thought which no goading of the imagination could torture into aught of the sublime. What was it--I paused to think--what was it that so unnerved me in the contemplation of the House of Usher? It was a mystery all insoluble; nor could I grapple with the shadowy fancies that crowded upon me as I pondered. I was forced to fall back upon the unsatisfactory conclusion, that while, beyond doubt, there are combinations of very simple natural objects which have the power of thus affecting us, still the analysis of this power lies among considerations beyond our depth. It was possible, I reflected, that a mere different arrangement of the particulars of the scene, of the details of the picture, would be sufficient to modify, or perhaps to annihilate its capacity for sorrowful impression; and, acting upon this idea, I reined my horse to the precipitous brink of a black and lurid tarn that lay in unruffled lustre by the dwelling, and gazed down--but with a shudder even more thrilling than before--upon the remodelled and inverted images of the gray sedge, and the ghastly tree-stems, and the vacant and eye-like windows.

Lyrics

They say don’t let them in

Close your eyes and clear your thoughts again

When I’m all alone, they show up on their own

Cause inner demons fight their battles with fire

Inner demons don’t play by the rules

They say “Just push them down, just fight them harder

Why would you give up on it so soon?”

So angels, angels please just keep on fighting

Angels don’t give up on me today

The demons they are there; they keep on fighting

Cause inner demons just won’t go away

So angels please, hear my prayer

Life is pain, lifes not fair

So angels please; please stay here

Take the pain; take the fear

They say it won’t be hard; they can’t see the battles in my heart

But when I turn away

The demons seem to stay

Cause inner demons don’t play well with angels

They cheat and lie and steal and break and bruise

Angels please protect me from these rebels

This is a battle I don’t want to lose

So angels, angels please just keep on fighting

Angels don’t give up on me today

The demons they are there; they keep on fighting

Cause inner demons just won’t go away

Angels, angels please just keep on fighting

Angels don’t give up on me today

Cause he demons they are there; they keep on fighting

這首歌約在1841年左右問世,旋律出自一首蘇格蘭古老的民謠〈羅賓愛我〉(Robin Cushie / Kind Robin Loves Me),刊登在1742年出版的《馬克基邦蘇格蘭歌調第一集》(McGibbons Scots Tunes Book 1),後由斯考特夫人(Lady John Scott, 1810-1900)重新編寫詞曲,發表於1876年出版的《蘇格蘭的詩人及其詩選集》(Poets and Poetry of Scorland)中。

Lyrics

O come, O come, Emmanuel

And ransom captive Israel

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free

Thine own from Satans tyranny

From depths of Hell Thy people save

And give them victory oer the grave

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer

Our spirits by Thine advent here

Disperse the gloomy clouds of night

And deaths dark shadows put to flight.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Key of David, come,

And open wide our heavenly home;

Make safe the way that leads on high,

And close the path to misery.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,

Who to Thy tribes, on Sinais height,

In ancient times didst give the Law,

In cloud, and majesty and awe.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Linkin Park - One More Light

Should've stayed, were there signs, I ignored?

Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?

We saw brilliance, when the world, was asleep

There are things that we can have, but can't keep

If they say

Who cares if one more light goes out?

In a sky of a million stars

It flickers, flickers

Who cares when someone's time runs out?

If a moment is all we are

We're quicker, quicker

Who cares if one more light goes out?

Well I do

The reminders, pull the floor from your feet

In the kitchen, one more chair than you need, oh

And you're angry, and you should be, it's not fair

Just 'cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it, isn't there

If they say

Who cares if one more light goes out?

In a sky of a million stars

It flickers, flickers

Who cares when someone's time runs out?

If a moment is all we are

We're quicker, quicker

Who cares if one more light goes out?

Well I do

(I do)

Who cares if one more light goes out?

In a sky of a million stars

It flickers, flickers

Who cares when someone's time runs out?

If a moment is all we are

We're quicker, quicker

Who cares if one more light goes out?

Well I do

Well I do
我關心
